Glossary of the oil and gas terminology (English-Ukrainian)

A bundle is several pipes (production or injection, gas lift) jointly insulated to keep production lines together. The bundle minimizes heat transfer and avoids hydrate or wax deposition that could plug the pipelines. Bundles are standard in Deepwater field developments.

Трубнi пучки – це виробничi лiнii, що складаються з кiлька спiльно iзольованих труб. Це мiнiмiзуе теплопередачу та запобiгае вiдкладенню гiдратiв або парафiнiв, якi можуть закупорити трубопроводи. Зв'язки широко застосовуються для розробки глибоководних родовищ.

The burner is a crucial piece of every oil or gas heating system. The burner is attached to a heating appliance, water heater, or boiler to heat air or water.

Пальники призначенi для встановлення в парових та водогрiйних котлах, теплогенераторах, печах нагрiву нафти, нафтовоi емульсii, а також iнших установках.

Bushwash is sludge at the bottom of an oil tank that does not collapse without heating or an emulsion of oil and water.

Вiдстiй на днi нафтового резервуара; не руйнуеться без пiдiгрiву; емульсiя нафти i води.

Buster, gas buster is a simple separator vessel that removes free or entrained gas from fluids circulated in the wellbore. It typically comprises a vessel containing a series of baffles with a liquid exit at the bottom and a gas-vent line at the top.

Газосепаратор або газовiддiлювач являе собою посудину, що мiстить ряд перегородок з виходом рiдини внизу та газовiдвiдною лiнiею вгорi. Сепаратор також використовуеться для видалення газу з рiдин, що циркулюють у стовбурi свердловини.

Butane is one of the lightest liquid streams typically produced in a refinery. It is generally either blended into gasoline or LPG (in small volumes) or sold directly as a finished product.

Butt weld (joints) is a welding technique used to join two tubes in which the squared and prepared ends are butted together in preparation for welding.

Buoyancy means the upward force acting on an object placed in a fluid. The buoyancy force equals the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. Any relative volumes or fluid level change will change the buoyancy forces.

A bypass is a system of pipes and valves permitting the diversion of flow or pressure around a line valve.

Обхiдна перемичка. Цей термiн зазвичай вiдноситься до з'еднання труб навколо клапана або iншого механiзму управлiння. У таких випадках встановлюеться обхiдна перемичка для забезпечення проходження рiдини через обхiдну лiнiю пiд час регулювання або ремонту.

A cable is a conductor or group of conductors used to transmit electric power or telecommunication signals from one place to another.

Caliber is a gauge for control that is in contact with an element of the product along the surface, lines, or points. The caliber has geometric parameters that reproduce the aspects of the development with given limiting dimensions.

Калiбр – засiб контролю, який контактуе з елементом виробу по поверхнi, лiнiях або точках. Калiбр мае геометричнi параметри, що вiдтворюють елементи виробу iз заданими граничними розмiрами.

A caliper is a measuring instrument with two adjustable legs or jaws for measuring the dimensions of material parts.

Capacity is the amount that something can produce.

"Cap the well" means remaining in control of a blowout well by installing and closing a valve on the wellhead.

Закривати пробкою; запечатувати (свердловину); заглушати.       Заглушувати свердловину, що фонтануе, лiквiдувати свердловину встановивши i закривши клапан на гирлi свердловини.

Carbon dioxide corrosion is the deterioration of metal components from contact with a gas or solution containing carbon dioxide.

A cartridge filter is a tubular filtration equipment that can be used for filtration requirements. A cartridge is encased within a housing or a casing and used to remove unwanted particles, pollutants, and chemicals from liquids.

The casing is pipe or tubing of appropriate material, diameter, and weight used to support the sides of a good hole and prevent the walls from caving, avoiding the loss of drilling mud into porous formations or preventing fluid from entering or leaving the well.

The casing head is the adapter between the first casing string and either the BOP stack (during drilling) or the wellhead (after completion). This adapter may be threaded or welded onto the casing and may have a flanged or clamped connection to match the BOP stack or wellhead.

Casing thread forms on casing joints. In addition to providing mechanical or structural strength, it must be compatible with the pressures and fluids associated with the application. Some advanced threadforms incorporate a gas seal.
